Wet Walnut Cookies

By Lindsey Shinn

When the weather is cold and the holidays are fast approaching, the one thing that’s always comforting is the thought of holiday cookies. These Wet Walnut cookies have always been a favorite of mine; they’re simple, not too sweet, and perfect with mug of coffee or hot chocolate. I recommend enjoying these while snuggled up under a blanket with your favorite book. I hope you enjoy!

[box]Ingredients:

2 cups sifted flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping:

1 cup walnuts, chopped

1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

1/4 cup sour cream

Directions:

Combine the flour, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl. Gradually add butter and sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and beat well. Shape into one inch balls and place two inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Combine the topping ingredients. Make a depression in the center of each dough ball with your thumb and place one teaspoon of topping in each depression. Bake at 350 degrees in the oven for 12 to 14 minutes.[/box]
