Thomas Automotive Supports Heritage Trail Through Subaru’s Share the Love Event

Tentative 2nd Phase Trail Ending at Old Bedford Village

The Shuster Way Heritage Trail has some exciting updates coming soon!

For the past five years, residents and guests of Bedford have enjoyed strolling along the Shuster Way Heritage Trail, experiencing its beautiful views. Currently, the trail begins at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort and ends at Fort Bedford Park, allowing trail users a safe and scenic way to get between the Springs and Downtown Bedford.

“The first phase of the trail, completed in 2015, has provided both recreational and economic value to the community, residents and visitors of Bedford,” commented Brian Sell, Chair of the Bedford Joint Municipal Authority, a governing body created to develop the trail in 2008.

The next phase for the trail is to extend it from Fort Bedford Park to the Old Bedford Village, allowing residents and guests alike to access even more of what makes Bedford a wonderful place to live and visit. Project completion is estimated to be finished by 2022. Thankfully, Thomas Subaru Share the Love Event will provide crucial funding to support the entire trail.

“Any money and support we receive is appreciated and is such a big deal for us,” said April Ressler, Secretary of the Municipal Authority.

It is anticipated that the funds received from the Subaru Share the Love Event will be used to install additional amenities to the trail, like kiosks, pet disposal bags, bike stands, benches, and more.

“Creating this trail system right in Bedford County would not have been possible without the great help and support of local organizations, like Thomas Subaru, as well as many of the generous land owners that made this entire project possible,” said April.
